Clover Sites 3

Clover Sites 3 | Company News

Hey everyone -

We hope you had a great Christmas and New Year's! Now that we're all back at our desks after the festivities, we figured it would be a great time for an update about the HTML5 version of Clover Sites - which we're officially dubbing "Clover Sites 3".

We realize that some of you are waiting excitedly for this new version, while others of you are worried that your website might change unexpectedly, and we probably haven't done a great job explaining what to expect. So the first thing we want to do is give you the big picture of what we're creating.

Clover Sites 3 is a complete redesign from the ground up of everything we've already made. The web has changed a lot in the 5 years since we first started working on Clover, and we care deeply about being on the forefront of our field. We're making new site designs, with new features, a beautiful mobile and tablet experience, and a more powerful editor. (All while still trying to keep things as simple and easy to use as possible!)

We'll launch the new version as essentially a whole new product, but it will be a free upgrade for all our current customers. And if for some reason you don't want to upgrade, you won't have to. You'll be able to stay with your current site on the existing Clover platform if you'd like, or move over whenever you're ready.

Because we're creating everything from the ground up, it allows us to build in a lot of features that many of you have been asking for. We'll be posting more details in a series of upcoming blog posts, but here are some of the new things we'll be offering:

- New site designs
- Multiple sections on each page
- Ability to change fonts
- Much more control over colors
- Mobile responsive designs (changing size for iPhone, iPad, etc)
- Easy vs Advanced editing (like with Clover Donations)
- Ability to add hidden pages
- Multiple users with different permissions in the Greenhouse
- Brand new media player
- New slideshow/advertising section
- New portfolio/gallery section
- A more sophisticated text editor
- Ability to put photos and buttons into a text section
- Ability to embed custom HTML
- Control over your CSS (for designers and developers)

As with everything we've announced before, we're so excited about this new version! And also as usual, we have to ask for your patience as we create it. We've been working on it for months, but we've still got quite a ways to go. If we could give a realistic time frame, we would, but as we've learned from our previous projects, the things that feel like the last little details often take much longer than we can anticipate. So in lieu of giving a launch date, we'll try to be open and communicative as we go along, so you can see the work in progress.

As a first teaser, here are some screenshots of a couple new site designs, and a few pieces of the new Greenhouse:
